On Wednesday, Facebook had a critical outage lasting 8 hours and most were locked out of their accounts, unable to access data or login.
It’s worth thinking about what would happen if it went down permanently or for a longer period of time. How would your business cope without it?
A lot of businesses take orders via their Facebook page and keep all the details in messages, if that’s you, how would you ensure customers got their orders?
What if your customer base is solely on Facebook, you have connected with them in any other way, so your brand is automatically lost in the sea.
There are a few ways to get around this, a website, a mailing list, a website, other social networks, CRM database etc.
If Facebook went down completely you’d have all of your customers and those interested in your business signed up to a mailing list so you could keep in contact with them that way, a website would ensure you had all order details, and CRM ensuring you had contact information etc. for open orders so you didn’t lose any information.
Can you imagine the terror of not being able to access your customer data for long periods of time? The chaos that would ensue? Protect yourself, your reputation and your data!
Relying on one or two companies to run your business puts yourself at huge risk, don’t let it happen to you.
If one good thing comes from Facebook and Instagram going down on Wednesday, let it be for you to take control of your marketing activities!
Don’t forget if you need any help setting up other accounts, websites, mailchimp, CRM databases, give me a shout 🙂
