I’m an avid reader so I thought I’d let you know some of my favourite businesses books – plus some recommended by the lovely people in the Entrepreneur Small Business Support & Advice group!
The Money Shot – Damien Fogg
Okay, so this isn’t technically a business book in the traditional sense but finance is the key to any sucessful business.
I’ve owned this book for around a year now and it’s my bible, covered in scribbles and notes. Damien prides himself on making finance fun and empowering people to improve their financial education.
I’ve always HATED numbers, I suck at maths but after immersing myself in this book (and his courses), the words “Net Worth” get me excited, which is why it’s made this list.
The Way I See It – Alan Sugar
I should probably rename this list “Top 5 business books that aren’t technically business books” because this is another one that isn’t a traditional business book.
I’ve included this one because it has lots of lessons within it, business specific and life specific.
It’s lighthearted and humourous and I couldn’t put it down – plus he takes a pop at people using buzzwords which made me proper laugh. Really recommend it!
Grow Your Tribe – Lauryn Bradley
Lauryn’s book “Grow Your Tribe” was recommended to me by one of the group members and I devoured it in a day!
It’s humorous, lighthearted and contains action plans and exercises.
I’m a big fan of business plans that give action points to get people to implement what they’ve read, which is why this makes the list.
Well written, easy to digest and motivating.
Do Less, Get More – Sháá Wasmund
I was introduced to Sháá’s books about a year ago when a client recommended her books to me. I’ve read all but one of them and they’re incredible.
Straight talking, actionable and an easy read.
I’m a really big advocate of “Work Smarter Not Harder” and this book is the embodiment of that.
The 5 Second Rule – Mel Robbins
Another recommendation by a client, I’d watched her TEDx talk and was intrigued so I really looked forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint.
It’s a great confidence builder and a fantastic kick up the bum, it’s great for stopping procrastination and just getting on with it!
Guide To Business – Virtual Bird
Okay, so I know I said this was a list of 5, but I couldn’t do a book list without including my own!
Now I have a confession to make, I actually forgot I had a book until someone reminded me the other day.
Released in 2015 on Amazon and 2014 on my website, it’s been a while since it was updated, but still contains nuggets of wisdom.
Mainly catered towards handmade businesses but still relevant to all business types.
I’ll pull it and write a version 2 at some point as the business landscape has changed tremendously since writing so get it while you can.
